I work within the Inspire Education Trust and have responsibility for teaching and learning of foreign languages and global links across our academy of four schools. I have a passion for languages, studying French and Spanish at A level and obtaining a BA Honours Degree in Spanish. I have spent time both in France and Spain, teaching in primary schools.

My current role is to support teachers in the planning and delivery of foreign language lessons. I am a strong and committed leader who sets high standards within my subject area. Since joining the Inspire Education Trust, I have produced detailed schemes of work, short-term planning and accompanying resources for the teaching of foreign languages, following national curriculum objectives and the Primary Framework for Languages. I lead training sessions and work with individuals across both within our academy of schools and across the city to support staff development. I organise enrichment opportunities such as themed language days and I regularly carry out specialist teaching sessions within different year groups across the school. I have also organised a link school in Spain whom we work in collaboration with. This has helped to raise both linguistic and cultural awareness and has also lead to the establishment of pen pals and a residential trip to Spain. These strategies have helped to raise standards in my subject specialism as well as to improve pupil, staff and parent attitudes towards the teaching of foreign languages. In addition, they have led to two of our academy schools achieving The British Council’s International Schools Award.

My passion for my subject area drives me to feel a sense of responsibility to improve and excite the teaching and learning of foreign languages for teachers and pupils in both my own and other schools. I relish upon any opportunity to inspire others to feel confident and enthusiastic towards the teaching of languages and to use innovative and creative methods in order to maximise learning outcomes.
