The Corley Centre

I am Deputy Headteacher at Corley Centre. My post requires me to lead and be accountable for the personal development and wellbeing of students, as well as the operational management of the school.

From 2011 I have been leading on the pastoral curriculum; developing inclusion and intervention strategies to support the special educational needs of all our students, particularly around autism and related anxieties and behaviours.

At the Corley Centre I have successfully implemented a number of significant changes around a redesign of pastoral structures and systems to enable all students to receive quality support and care from staff who are equipped with a shared knowledge and understanding of all our students’ needs, abilities and aspirations.  This has included the implementation of a vertical mentoring system, a bespoke electronic behaviour management system and the effective sharing of information and strategies resulting in consistency across the school, which is so vital for our students.

I am currently working on the implementation of Educational, Health and Care Plans, with a focus on quality family conversations which have been identified as a beacon of good practice within Coventry LA’s SEN Department.

My teaching career began in 1996. I have been a Head of Department, Head of Faculty and an Assistant Headteacher. As a Deputy Headteacher I set high expectations for myself and others. I work with relentless drive and enthusiasm. Through the promotion of teamwork, support, leadership and teaching strategies, I motivate and inspire the staff and students I work with.

I look forward to supporting colleagues in all aspects of leadership within the fields of SEND and Behaviour and Safety.
